"I am not what has happened to me; I am what I chose to become."  Carl Jung

As we begin 2014, take time to reflect on 2013. I encourage you to take a break from your busy schedule and take a few moments to think and remember...  Savor the fond memories branded into your memory that you shared with your loved ones.  Additionally, do not dwell on but rather acknowledge the challenges you faced and any failures you may have encountered for the purpose of identifying the "lessons learned" as you continue your life journey in 2014.

Some of life's transitions and/or challenges may have caused you physical and/or emotional pain, deep sadness and a sense of "what have I done to deserve this...?" Other transitions may have resulted in immense happiness, inner peace and great satisfaction. And, perhaps both ends of the emotional spectrum were experienced as you worked your way through a particular transition this past year. Often, what initially appears to be the worst situation we discover was "the best thing that ever happened" given where you end up after the "dust settles".  Whatever you experienced in 2013, I encourage you to look at the glass as being half full.  A positive attitude and state of mind can be a powerful resource for you to draw upon as you move forward.  Shed any tendency to "play" the victim and/or focusing on the negative.  Set goals, plan and act. Simply talking about what you want to accomplish doesn't make it happen.  Execute your plan with the belief that you can achieve what your mind can conceive!

We cannot always control what happens to us in life; however, we can control how we respond. At the end of the day it is your choice....chose to be happy and to move forward on your journey!

The Behavioral Compass Team wishes you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Be well,
Beth
