                          Education Consulting - Advocacy

Picture
The Behavioral Compass Team's Education Consulting and Special Education Advocacy services are available throughout New England.  We are passionate about advocating on behalf of children with their parent/guardian(s).

In the general education arena, we provide assistance with not only locating the "right" school for your child but also assist strategically with the application process.  Our knowledge spans public and/or private colleges and universities.

In the Special Education arena, we provide experienced advocacy by helping families effectively navigate their special education journey.  We team with parent(s) utilizing our expertise and fortitude as we "level the playing field" with school districts and other professionals to ensure that our client receives the individualized, appropriate and free education that he/she is entitled to.   Further, we stand firm on the premise that all children should be treated with respect and their dignity preserved.

We possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, expertise in the Special Education Laws and Regulations and have several years of experience working directly with children diagnosed with various disabilities (e.g. Autism, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Mood Disorders, Downs Syndrome, etc.) and school districts.  Our objective is to maximize your child's opportunities to develop: academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Thus, facilitating his/her ability to reach his/her full potential.  As needed, we will add professional experts to the Team so that the child's specific needs are addressed (e.g. speech & language, occupational therapy, psychiatry, neuropsychologist, outplacement options, etc.).  We facilitate keeping the "Team" (school district, professional experts, parents, etc.) accountable and focused to ensure our common goals of effectively addressing the child's educational, social and emotional needs are met.

We are available to attend PPT, Section 504, Due Process Hearings, Mediation and related meetings with parent(s)/guardians, assisting with the formation of IEPs, Behavioral Plans and the implementation of goals, objectives and related strategies aimed at helping children succeed.  This includes, but is not limited to: explaining school records, evaluations, behavioral assessments & plans, related data collection and negotiating/advocating for revisions to the same.
